Institute of Rural Management, Anand

Institute of Rural Management, Anand conducts its own entrance exam for its rural management program.  The institute is a paragon of rural education and research in India. Each management exam has its own beauty and so does IRMA and it needs its own preparation and respect it deserves. Roughly, 15,000 students give this exam every year and around 500 are called for the interview stage.

About the Exam

  • IRMA is a 120 minute exam.
  • It has 4 sections – Quant, Verbal, LR DI and GK on social issues.
  • Total Number of questions is 200.
  • No sectional time limits per se.
  • 1 mark for every right answer, 1/4 deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Percentile is prepared and sectional cut off is prevalent, in fact, the most crucial point of the paper is clearing all sectional and overall cut offs.
  • Date of exam is normally in November.

As you can see, the breakdown of question in each section is not mentioned per se, neither is the reference to negative marking quite clear on the face of the paper at times. If this is the case, candidates should avoid wild guesses in the paper. This is what the official IRMA website has to say regarding the structure of the paper –

Analytical reasoning (60 marks), quantitative ability (50 marks), English comprehension (50 marks), and issues of social concern (40 marks).

Eligibility for the Exam

Only Indian citizens, with minimum 15 years of education (10+2+3) and having 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) are eligible for the exam.You

Cost of Form

Around 1000/- for online media vs 1050/- if using hard print. There is a concession for category students. Note that this fee is for a single course so if you are applying for multiple courses, you need to pay 50% extra.
