XAT aka Xavier Aptitude test notification has been sent out by XLRI for this year. Every year, XLRI conducts the XAT exam in which around one lakh student take part each year. After CAT, XAT is the most the popular management exam in India. XAT is conducted by none other than XLRI, which happens to be one of the best B-schools in India. The XAT notification is on expected lines with XAT exam being conducted in the first week of January like previous years but the one change that has been seen is that they have got a new website (which has horrible fonts and looks cheap to state the least) where students can register for the exam. - About XAT exam:
Written test followed by an essay to be written right after the written test is over.
- Date of XAT exam
2nd January 2011
- The time window for XAT exam
10 am to 12:30 pm (the time for reaching the test site would be 30-45 minutes before, hence read the admit card carefully)
- Eligibility Constraints for XAT
Candidates who have a valid 3 year graduation degree from a recognized institute are eligible for XAT. Please note that unlike CAT, XAT does not have the 50% criteria to be fulfilled by the students.
Final year students can also apply for XAT subject to the fact that they may complete their graduation by the time of admission into the colleges. The exact date of completion of graduation varies with each college. For XL it is 10nth of June 2011.
- How to apply for XAT??
Candidates have to register online. They will be given a XAT ID and a password. Then log into your account using that ID and password. Complete the details that are required and submit your application. One has to proceed after that based on the mode of payment selected (except for online). Keep moving below as we have all the details you would be needing for this.
- Cost of Form + Prospectus (one and the same thing)
XAT registration is 950 (for DD) bucks and XLRI is another 1050 for single program and increasing with each program that you may apply to. If you go for the Axis Bank option, you will have to dish out 50 rupees less and the online payment option will see you spending 26 rupees more than the DD amount respectively. - Important Dates for XAT exam!!
Last date of Registration for the XAT exam is 30th of November 2010.
- What to do in case a clarification is desired regarding the XAT exam or XAT form?
XAT notification states these numbers for any kind of help that the student may desire regarding the filling of application etc.
Here is an important point we quote from their website
“If you are unable to locate the email, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org citing your primary email id or call us up on 1800 102 1123 / 1800 103 1123 between 8.00 a.m. and 10.00 p.m. (IST) The helpline number is for BSNL & MTNL lines, for other service providers please check the alternate numbers for your city if you are unable to reach the customer care executive, please write email@example.com. We shall get back to you in 48 hours. (Excluding Holidays)”
One has to dispatch the filled form to XLRI with the required documents within one week of the clearance of payment. To be on the safer side…just dispatch your application asap once you fill the form etc.
