Introduction

IIIT Bangalore is a private research university located in Bangalore, Karnataka. It was founded in 1999 to offer information technology courses to revolutionise research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

In 2005, the institution was recognised as a Deemed University under the UGC Act of 1956. It offers post graduate diploma in data science online to equip professionals with crucial knowledge in data management and analytics. This program is best suited for working professionals

Course Description

It is a 12-month program. Some of the crucial programming languages and tools taught include Python, Excel, Tableau, MYSQL, HADOOP, and Spark

The program targets software and IT professionals, engineers, sales and marketing professionals, administrative officials, and any other individual engaged directly in the management of big data

All students must cover a minimum of 400 hours of classroom work, practical experiments, and projects All students must undertake the core courses such as Machine Learning, Big Data and SQL, Introduction to Big Data, Data Mining, Statistics, and Exploratory Data Analytics.

Afterward, students are allowed to specialise in areas of interest. Areas of specialisation include Deep Learning and Neural Networks, Healthcare, Natural Language Processing, E-Commerce, and BFSI.

Every student is required to undertake a minimum of 7 case studies to enable them to internalise and actualise all the concepts learned.

The curriculum is designed to expose students to immense practical work through hands-on workshops, engagements with industry mentors, and a student success mentor

All students must complete all evaluation tests as provided by lecturers. These may include group discussions, assignments, project reports, and written tests

Eligibility

Prospective candidates must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Commerce, Science, or Mathematics

Candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA. Candidates must have work experience of at least two years in a relevant field.

Candidates must pass the institution’s aptitude and quantitative abilities test. Candidates with GRE (score greater than 300), CAT (score greater than 90 percentile), and GMAT (score greater than 650) are exempted from the test

Admission Criteria

All candidates must apply for PGD in Data Science through the institution’s website before the deadline. All applications must be accompanied by all the requested documents failure to which it will be rejected

After the reception of all application forms, the admission panel selects the candidates who meet the minimum requirements. Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview to evaluate their abilities and ascertain their qualification credentials

The admission panel awards mark to every candidate individually. Candidates with the highest score get admission to the program. Other factors that are considered when preparing the final list include candidates’ testimonials, past academic achievements, work experience, and engagement in extracurricular activities.

Fee Structure

The total fee structure for PGD in Data Science is Rs 285, 000. It covers tuition, library charges, refundable deposits, and computer charges
