Introduction

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi is a public engineering college established in 1961 in the Hauz Khas region of New Delhi, India. In 1963, the institution was recognized as one of the Institutes of National Importance in India under the Institutes of Technology Amendment Act of 1963.

In 2018, the institution was awarded the Institute of Eminence status by the Government of India which made it an autonomous institution. The institution offers an M Tech. CSE with Specialization in Data Engineering. The program is designed to equip engineers with skills in data engineering and management.

Course Structure

It is a 2-year full-time degree program. All students must undertake the core subjects, specialization core, and elective courses. Dissertation work is a mandatory requirement for the program.

M Tech. CSE students are required to handle a minimum of 58 credits throughout the two years of study. The credits are distributed as follows:

• Program core courses ( 16 credits)
• Specialization core courses (12 credits)
• Elective courses (10 credits)
• Dissertation work (20 credits)

For students to acquire qualify for a specialization in Data Engineering, they must meet the following requirements:

• Complete a minimum of 16 credits in the area of Data Engineering.
• Undertake their thesis on a topic related to Data Engineering. The institution‘s advisor must ascertain that the thesis topic is relevant before certification.

Within the two years of study, students must pass all the courses provided to qualify for graduation. The courses include:

• Database System Implementation
• Big Data Analytics
• Data Mining
• Information Retrieval
• Machine Learning
• Spatial Computing

Students who specialize in data engineering must fathom the use of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to solve real-life data problems.

To achieve this, the curriculum is regularly updated to conform to the emerging data issues in the highly dynamic data management sector.

Eligibility

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Technology or an M.sc in Mathematics and Statistics. Candidates must have a first-class or an equivalent grade in their respective disciplines.

All prospective candidates must demonstrate a desire to learn more about technological approaches to data management. Candidates must have a valid GATE score in ST/EC/CS/MA.

Admission Criteria

All candidates who qualify for the M Tech. CSE must apply through the institution’s official website. The admission panel evaluates the applications received and determines the cut-off points to be used for shortlisting.

Candidates who meet the minimum eligibility requirements are shortlisted and invited for an interview. Based on the performance index of each candidate, the admission panel prepares the final list of qualified candidates.

The total fee is Rs 4.6 Lac which covers tuition, learning materials, library charges, and refundable deposits. All students who reside in the hostels are required to pay approximately Rs 60,000 annually for accommodation and mess charges.

IIT Delhi achieves placement success of up to 98%. M Tech CSE graduates get offers from different sectors including service, manufacturing, automobile, and banking.

The highest placement offer for the graduates is Rs 39 lakhs while the lowest is Rs 5 lakhs annually. The average salary is Rs 16 Lakhs annually.

M Tech CSE graduates get introductory offers ranging from Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 30 lakhs annually. The average salary is Rs 15 lakhs annually with the potential to rise to Rs 20 within a few years of professional work.
