Introduction

IIM Kozhikode is an autonomous business institution established by the Government of India (in collaboration with the Government of Kerala State).

Since its launch in 1996, the institution has received numerous accolades including First Wiley Libraries Award and AMBA accreditation.

It offers diverse courses in research, management, consultancy, and short & long executive courses.

Courses Offered by IIM Kozhikode

1. Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP)

Course Objectives 

The programme has three modules: Foundational Courses, Electives, and Compulsory Advanced Courses. In the first year of study, students must cover 380 hours of instruction (30 hours on-campus and 350 hours through interactive learning platforms).

In the second year, they cover 280 hours. Some of the key courses covered include Business Law, Quantitative and Analytical Techniques, Finance Management, Business Management, Data Science, and Corporate Governance.

Admission Process

All eligible candidates are required to apply for the programme online through the institution’s official website. The shortlisting process will be based on the eligibility guidelines set out by the institution.

All shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo an Entrance Test ( EMAT) followed by a personal interview.

Upon completion of the selection process, the institution will set a cut off point based on work experience, academic qualifications, EMAT score, and performance in the personal interview.

All successful candidates will be informed through their official addresses. Their admission is subject to acceptance of offer letters and payment of the introductory fee.

Pedagogy

EPGP programme is offered through an Interactive Learning Module, which is designed to enable the students to undertake their courses alongside their work assignments.

The lessons are offered through a learning student located at the IIMK Campus. Students access the sessions through designated learning centers in major cities in India.

EPGP programme comprises students with 8-25 years of managerial and entrepreneurial experience.

The participants come from different fields including Engineering, Finance & Banking, Marketing, Consultancy, Automotive, Manufacturing, and Pharmaceuticals.

Also, more than 70% of all students are male aged between 35 and 55.

2. MBA for Working Executives 

Course Objectives

This programme has 3-course modules namely Foundation and Functional Core Courses, Compulsory Courses, and Electives.

The first year is divided into four quarters (each comprising 10-13 weeks) where the students cover approximately 380 hours.

In the second year, students cover compulsory courses, electives, and capstone simulations in 370 hours of instructions.

Pedagogy

The program utilizes both experiential and participatory models to disseminate knowledge. All students will be required to undertake case studies, simulations, projects, and lectures.

Also, lecturers use Assignments, project work, end-term examinations, quizzes, and classroom participation for evaluation. Students will be graded (A+ to F) based on their academic performance.

Additionally, students must undertake several compulsory courses (1 to 3 credits for each), equivalent to 380 classroom hours, within their first year of study.

In their second year, the students choose several electives and undertake Business Simulation and Business Plan Proposal training. In total, the students must cover at least 750 hours before graduation.

Award of MBA

Upon successful completion of the MBA for the Working Executive Programme, the participants will be awarded a Master of Business Administration (MBA). They will be required to attend a convocation ceremony at IIM Kozhikode.

The candidates have working experience from sectors including IT, manufacturing, consultancy, finance & banking, and automotive.

Approximately 60% of the students are male with the majority being above 35 years.

Q6: What does the EMAT entrance exam entail?

Ans: This is an aptitude test aimed at determining the candidate’s suitability to undertake the programme. It tests the verbal, logical, and numerical ability of the candidates.

The one-hour test consists of Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Data Interpretation sections. The results for the test are only valid for that specific batch/ academic year.

Q7: How can I apply for IIM Kozhikode?

Ans: All prospective candidates will then be subjected to a written entrance test (EMAT) and a personal interview.

Candidates with valid CAT results (above 75 percentile) or GMAT score of at least 650 will be exempted from EMAT entrance test.

Successful candidates must pay a Rs 50,000 commitment fee before the deadline as enrollment confirmation.
